How to confuse your target group

This weekend Microsoft started a new chapter in their global campaign to confuse their customer's and product target groups.

By taking the best gaming console Microsoft has ever made and not mention gaming at all in its first TV commercial MS is poised to concede the gaming market to Sony. I really don't get their strategy, with the XBOX 360 and Kinect they finally had a winner.

They could have crushed Sony in the next round - but instead they ignore the 90% of customers that buy the XBOX for gaming and advertise it as the most expensive TV settop box ever made. 

What is going on Microsoft? Do you even realize that all those TV features only work in the US and nowhere else in the world? I just canceled my pre-order and changed it to the PS4 - saving myself some money and disappointment in late November.
